Another day, another player gone broke on the GSN cash game series “High Stakes Poker.” You can catch new episodes of the show, which is in its seventh season, on Saturdays at 8:00pm ET and 11:00pm ET on GSN.

This week’s episode began with over $3 million spread across the table. Almost immediately, another player went busto. This time, PokerStars pro Barry Greenstein put in a continuation bet $5,000 on a flop of 3-2-Q, all diamonds, holding A-5 and Treasure Island Las Vegas owner Phil Ruffin called with A-K of the suit for the nuts. The turn was an offsuit four, giving Greenstein a wheel, and he moved all-in for $18,100.

In a rather comedic exchange that had show host Norm Macdonald laughing, Ruffin asked Greenstein if he had any more to bet. Greenstein responded that he was all-in and Ruffin gingerly called with his flush. Greenstein was drawing dead and bought back in for another $200,000.

Ruffin and Greenstein continued to tangle. Greenstein bet $7,000 on a flop of K-10-6 with K-Q for top pair and Ruffin, who held K-7, raised to $20,000. Greenstein called with the superior hand and the turn was a nine. Greenstein check-called a bet of $20,000 from his adversary and the river was an ace. Greenstein pushed out $20,000 in chips and Ruffin called only to see he was beat in the $132,000 pot.

PokerStars pro Vanessa Selbst then got frisky. She bet $6,700 on a flop of 2-J-5 with two hearts holding A-Q of spades for two overcards and a backdoor flush draw. Victory Poker pro Antonio Esfandiari called with 9-6 of hearts for a flush draw and the turn was the three of spades. Selbst, now holding the nut flush draw, check-called a bet of $15,600 and her draw came through on the river.

Armed with the nuts, Selbst checked and Esfandiari tried to buy the pot by betting $32,400. Selbst check-raised to $101,800 and Esfandiari deliberated before laying it down. Selbst correctly identified that her opponent held a mid-range heart draw and scooped a pot worth $189,000.

Then, after a flop of 8-9-10, retired businessman Bill Klein checked bottom set and Selbst, holding J-10 for top pair and a straight draw, bet $18,000. Klein raised to $58,000 and Selbst came along to a three on the turn. Klein continued firing, this time $70,000, and Selbst wisely got out of the way. The $220,000 pot was the largest of last night’s “High Stakes Poker” episode.

Ruffin promptly exited the set, choosing to walk with $300,000 in profit, the most amount ever won by an amateur on “High Stakes Poker.” Ruffin hit flops hard throughout his first appearance on the GSN series and we would not be surprised to see him in Season 8. He ended up with a stack of over $800,000.

In the final pot of the evening, Doyle Brunson raised to $3,400 with K-Q and Selbst came along with 8-7 of spades. The flop came 3-8-2 and Brunson checked king-high. Selbst fired out $6,000 in chips with top pair and Brunson popped it to $21,000. Selbst called and the turn was the ace of spades. Brunson put it an untimely bluff of $35,000 and Selbst shoved all-in for nearly $122,000. Brunson got out of the way and the credits rolled on Saturday’s one-hour episode.

Next week, back-to-back World Series of Poker Main Event champ Johnny Chan joins the brigade. You can watch new episodes of “High Stakes Poker” on Saturdays at 8:00pm ET and 11:00pm ET on GSN.
